Installing and Using the SCC Dicentra Software for Competitions

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS GUIDE IS NOT RATHER OUTDATED AND A NEW ONE IS BEING PREPARED (APRIL 2014)

If you would like to help with either preparing PDI entries for competition, or running the competition on the night, you can read our brief ”How To” guides which are accessible once you have logged in to the site:

The easiest way to learn is to create a dummy competition using (e.g.) a past competition and to run it using the projector.  It is important we have several people who are familiar with setting up a competition, setting up the projector on the night, and of course running the competition so we’ll always happy to set up a small workshop session for anyone who would like to try their hand at it.

It is important not to underestimate the preparation before the competition evening so do leave enough hours to check over entries, do any necessary renaming and resizing, print out blank score sheets, and to do a dummy run with the actual entries.  We try to be as flexible as possible with entries that need renaming or resizing, and you may sometimes have to email the entrant asking for their files to be resent for some reason.  It is not generally possible to accept late entries on the night unless the files are in exactly the right format and you have already been advised of the image and author names: it can be very stressful trying to add extra entries while you are struggling to get the Laptop and Projector to operate as you expect!
