Lots of good news!

1) Projector purchased!  David has just sent this message to all members…

“Since our last meeting, an update of our financial position has shown that we now have sufficient funds in the bank to purchase a digital projector for the Club at this time. This not only enables us to avoid the forthcoming increase in VAT, but also to have the projector available for our first competition next year.

The Committee have been reviewing and discussing this over the last few days, and a decision was taken this morning to go ahead and purchase a projector as soon as possible, and especially as our selected model was on offer at a very good price from a reputable supplier.

I am therefore delighted to advise you that a projector has been purchased and that the Shaftesbury Camera Club is now the proud owner of an Optoma EX615 digital projector.

The cost of the projector is £641.55 including delivery. We currently have a total of £491.50 in the Projector Fund, so we need to continue our efforts to raise the rest of the money. The Christmas Soiree Raffle and Champagne Challenge will contribute towards the “deficit”, and we are hopeful that all the funds needed will soon be reached.”

We plan to demonstrate our new projector at our Christmas Soiree.  This is a big step forward for our Club in a remarkably short time – a big “thank you” to all those that have helped us reach this major milestone.

2) Meeting Dates for Sept 2011 to May 2012

Planning our next season’s programme has already started, so please put these dates in your new 2011 diaries and calendars!

2011 2012
15th & 29th Sept
13th & 27th October
10th & 24th November
1st & 15th December
12th & 26th Jan
9th & 23rd Feb
1st & 15th & 22nd March
(note 3 meetings)
12th & 26th April
10th May
Note the pattern of 2nd & 4th Thursdays will not be so closely followed, because of non-availability of the Hall on a few occasions. So, where possible, WE have juggled the dates to minimise the number of 3-week gaps….and this will give us a total of 18 meetings instead of the 16 for this season.

3) Our Website now has a permanent home where we can develop additional facilities for members, and which will improve our search ratings on Google, etc!
