AGM 2013
Our third AGM was held on the 9th May 2013 at the Royal British Legion Hall. David Lampard, Chairman, reviewed some of the highlights of the past year including the talks by David Boag, Spike and Penny Piddock, and our Star Night speaker Tony Worobiec. We have been pleased to welcome a number of new members as well as occasional visitors, and our membership now stands around 33. This has helped to make our financial position much firmer with a net income over expenditure for the year of £379 which has helped to establish small reserves for future Star Nights, equipment maintenance/renewal, etc. as well as a possible exhibition of members’ work next season subject to finding an affordable venue.
Bill Norman has put together a full programme for next season and distributed advance copies at the AGM. New ventures include the “Shaston PDI Challenge” (where we will invite 3 clubs, namely Yeovil, Ringwood, and Parkstone) and an international friendly with Waikato Photographic Society, New Zealand.
Membership and Guest Fees for next season will remain at their current levels. The various roles, including those participating as Committee members, were re-elected en-bloc although Kees has reluctantly stood down, leaving the Equipment Secretary vacant.
We then had a break for refreshments and wine before Robin Miller, Chairman of the Shaftesbury Royal British Legion, gave a very complimentary speech about the success of the club and what we had achieved in just three years. He then presented the Shuffell Trophies for the Photographers of the Year to David Lampard (print) and David Cornes (PDI) in absentia. The Photograph of the Year awards went to David Lampard (Print – Wild West Roundup) and Andy Newton (PDI – Albania from Lake Ohrid Macedonia). Certificates were awarded to the runners-up and full details can be found on our web-based Roll of Honour.
