2016 Exhibition at Gold Hill Museum was well attended

Our Exhibition at Gold Hill Museum  was open for a full 7 days from Saturday April 30th.  Visitors were encouraged to vote for their favourite image and we kept running out of voting slips.   Last year’s exhibition – just 3 days over the bank holiday weekend we had 240: this year we had 350.   Several had nice comments: fantastic show, excellent quality, smiley face, well done – and we collected a dozen email addresses or phone numbers of people interested in knowing more about the club.

Comments from visitors about joining a club were mainly concerned with learning to use cameras ‘properly’ and how to print, etc.  There were also comments about only now using a phone camera so a club not for them so we pointed to those images taken with phones!

It was very obvious that the big prints caught people’s attention with the top 10 favourites being Val, Jeffery and Mike but Richard’s Robin also did well at 8.   We scored by giving 3 for 1st choice, 2 for 2nd and 1 for 3rd.  Deer & the Jackdaw(c)This gave us a clear winner with a massive 215 of Val’s Deer and Jackdaw, 2nd (104) Jeffery’s Autumn Colours and 3rd  (101) Val’s Ruby Eye.  Jeffery was 4th with his Damselflies Mating and Mike came in 5th,6th and 7th.

Many thanks to all who helped get this very successful exhibition up and running and all we need now is more members entering their work next year.  As a result of the exhibition and comments by both members and visitor, we are trying to organise a full print and mount session early in the next season to encourage those who don’t usually enter prints into our competitions.  More on this in due course.
